Gemma & Ary were married in an elegant wedding on the 14th of December. With a breath-taking ceremony at Xavier College Chapel and a reception at the Grand Hyatt in Melbourne, every moment of their elegant wedding was filled with love, joy and true happiness.
An Elegant Grand Hyatt Wedding
On the morning of the wedding day, I met up with Gemma as she prepared for her wedding. She was a simply stunning bride and her bridal gown designed by Jason Grech was breath-taking. This incredible gown was encrusted with beads and jewels. It made Gemma look like she had stepped out of the pages of a storybook. The veil and train billowed out behind her. She told me that she’d dreamt of this day since she was a little girl. And truly, every moment of this wedding was like a dream.
Gemma had a beautiful bond between her sister and family. It was wonderful to watch them as they helped her get ready and then helped her make sure her spectacular veil stayed in place. Gemma did not stop smiling all day and she had the most beautiful smile.
Wedding Ceremony at Xavier College Chapel
When Gemma arrived at the chapel for the ceremony there was a quiet moment as she sat in the car, looking up at the chapel. It was a quiet moment of introspection, almost as if she were reflecting on the important moments ahead. And then, just as quickly, that brilliant smile was back. Her sisters and bridesmaids helped her to arrange her veil ahead of her grand entrance, and then the doors opened. Her entrance was truly grand, and Ary’s whole face lit up when he saw his bride come down the aisle.
That joy was only second to their priceless smiles as they were pronounced husband and wife and they exited the chapel. The moment was exuberant, joyful and triumphant.

After the conclusion of the ceremony, it was time for wedding photos. The wedding party truly was enjoying themselves, but Gemma was amazing. She never stopped smiling. She had so much fun with her incredible wedding gown as she and Ary walked around together, hand in hand, their joy so clear and easy to photograph. Love like this makes me love my job as a professional wedding photographer.
I wish everyone would soak up and enjoy their day with big smiles like these two both did. In the years I’ve spent photographing weddings, I feel too many brides and grooms stress about small things rather than enjoying their wedding day for what it is. Gemma and Ary made sure to take their time to enjoy one another and to truly soak in the new moments of being newly married. They slowed down to take time out with their bridal party and sat down at a little local café for a break to enjoy some coffee and each other. It was plain to see how much they all enjoyed spending time together.
Timeless Elegance at the Grand Hyatt in Melbourne
After some more wedding portraits, it was time for Gemma and Ary to be announced at their elegant reception. The ballroom of the Grand Hyatt was beautifully transformed into a classic, elegant backdrop for their wedding reception. Just when I thought that Gemma’s gown couldn’t be more incredible, she removed the elegant train and it converted into a sleek and stylish reception gown! When Gemma and Ary took to the dancefloor, it looked like they were the only two people in the world.
Gemma, Ary, thank you for asking me to be your Grand Hyatt wedding photographer. Every moment of your elegant Melbourne wedding was an honour to capture.
